Disclosure
A site that recommends software should say plainly how it makes money, because that is the thing most likely to bend its advice.
Why this page exists
These guides recommend things: install ImageMagick, buy the HEVC codec, use Preview instead of a web tool. Recommendations are worth something to the companies being recommended, which is exactly why you should know whether anyone is paying for them.
How this site is funded
This is a personal project rather than a business, and it is funded the boring way: out of pocket. Hosting static pages costs very little, and because conversion happens on your device there is no processing bill to recover from anyone.
- No advertising. No ad networks, sponsored placements or promoted listings appear on any page. There is no advertising code loaded at all, which you can confirm in your browser's network tools.
- No affiliate links. None of the software mentioned in the guides is linked through an affiliate or referral programme. If that changes, every affected link will be marked and this page updated first.
- No paid reviews or placements. No company has paid, or been asked to pay, to be recommended, compared favourably, or mentioned here.
- No data sale. Nothing is collected that could be sold, and nothing is sold. See the privacy policy.
Nobody pays a bandwidth bill here, because no image ever crosses the network. That is the whole reason free converters elsewhere end up rationing file counts and selling subscriptions: someone has to cover the cost of receiving, processing and returning your photographs.
If this changes
If affiliate links, sponsorship or advertising are ever introduced, three things will happen before they appear:
- This page is updated first
Describing exactly what the arrangement is and who it is with.
- Affected links are labelled in place
Clearly marked where they appear, not buried in a footer, so you can see it at the moment it matters rather than having to come looking.
- Recommendations do not change to suit it
If a paid arrangement would require recommending something worse, the arrangement gets declined. A converter site that recommends the wrong fix is worth nothing to anyone.
Independence from the companies we write about
No commercial or contractual relationship exists with Apple, Microsoft, Google, Adobe, Canon, Samsung or anyone else discussed on this site. Nobody among them has been consulted, paid, or given advance sight of what is written about their products.
That independence is why some pages say uncomfortable things — that Microsoft charges for a codec most users assume should be included, that browser-based JPG to HEIC conversion is not possible despite many sites claiming otherwise, and that this site's own converter is the wrong tool for a photo library of thousands of files.
How recommendations are decided
- Built-in first. Every platform guide leads with the method already on your computer — Finder, Photos, Paint, PowerShell — even though sending you to a built-in tool means you do not use this site's converter.
- Free before paid. Where a free route exists it is given first, including the free manufacturer version of the Windows HEVC codec that many people pay for unnecessarily.
- Tested, not repeated. Figures in the comparison tables come from converting sample images rather than from other people's articles.
- Limitations stated. Where this site's tools are the weaker option — huge batches, EXIF preservation, encoding HEIC — the pages say so and point elsewhere.

- No. There are no affiliate links, no sponsored placements and no paid reviews. If that ever changes, this page will be updated first and affected links will be labelled where they appear.
- Are there ads on this site?
- No advertising code is loaded on any page. You can confirm this in your browser's network tools — the only external requests are for fonts and the conversion library.
- Is jpg-heic.com affiliated with Apple or Microsoft?
- No. The site is independent and unaffiliated. Product names appear because the guides explain how to use those products.
- Why do the guides recommend built-in tools instead of your converter?
- Because they are usually the better answer. Finder's Convert Image handles thousands of files in seconds, which no browser tab can match. Recommending the right tool matters more than traffic.
